About Cluj Innovation Days

Organized by ClujIT Cluster

Cluj Innovation Days (CID) is an annual event organized by Cluj IT Cluster aiming at consolidating the IT sector and creating new innovation based bridges among businesses, academia and the public sector.

CID 2017, the 5th Edition

CID 2017 was the 5th edition of the conference and is addressing the topic of Digital Economy, one of the most pressing issues of our modern society. Spreading over two days, the conference program included presentations and workshops designed to explore current trends, new approaches and innovative solutions in Digital Economy.

400+ Participants

More than 400 participants attended the event: representatives of the Romanian Government and of the European Commission, members from the Academia, but also businesses and business organizations from Romania and abroad interested in the topics we proposed with this year’s edition of Cluj Innovation Days.

Why was this conference relevant

Digital Economy

Digital economy is growing at a very fast pace, permeating many sectors of human activity, from transportation to agriculture, from medicine to creative industries. Yet, only two percent of European enterprises are currently taking full advantage of new digital opportunities.

National Agendas

There is a growing number of national digital agendas which underpin the conditions where digital economies are seen as drivers for innovation, inclusive growth and decentralization.

Prerequisites

For all this to actually happen, a number of prerequisites are required among which: infrastructure to enable communication, accessibility and fair pricing, security and reliability, privacy, and last but not least education for needed skills to take advantage of the potential of new business models.

  • Connector.Connector.

How should education evolve to meet the needs of the emerging digital economy?

  • Connector.Connector.

What responsibility does the government have in ensuring that individuals are properly prepared for a new wave of jobs?

  • Connector.Connector.

What measures should society consider as job automation continues to grow?

  • Connector.Connector.

What new models of economy are more likely to take advantage of the ongoing technological progress?

All these topics and more were central to Cluj Innovation Days 2017 and have been approached by experienced international and national speakers from government, academia and business in an environment that encouraged debates, sharing of ideas and experiences, partnerships and new projects
